Bluejay girls varsity soccer lost their 4th game to DC Everest this passed Thursday with a final score of 6-0, bringing their season record to 0-4.

Despite the fourth consecutive loss, head coach Stephanie Nelson comments on the fact that Merrill is doing better against DC Everest than in previous years.

“Despite the score, we actually did pretty well. This is the best we’ve done against them in like 5 years…we passed pretty decently and we played pretty good defense. Gabby Schlegel had 20 saves and her defenders did awesome shutting things down, but Everest has just such immaculate spacing that it felt like the ball just kept going to them.”

This is the first game that has occurred in good weather, and Nelson hopes that more practice will help improve the team.

“It was still a vast improvement from previous years and again once we get more practices outside I’m hoping to get more confidence in the ladies so when we play teams that aren’t the reigning state champs we can be a lot more competitive.”
