The Bluejay girls routed Wausau East as the second game in a Merrill doubleheader with the Lumberjacks in the MHS Fieldhouse.
The Bluejay girls bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to league-leading D.C. Everest by running away from Wausau East in a home double-header with the boys team.
Merrill turned a relatively close game into a blow-out with a 19-0 run from late in the first half into the halfway point of the second half. The Jays reached a 63-19 lead nearly three minutes before the 9:00 remaining point with a 40-point lead that turns on the running clock.
The girls built a 46-19 lead in the first half of the contest, then put away a 70-24 game with a 24-5 second half.
