Establishments receive health department awards

The Lincoln County Health Department has announced the second annual environmental health award winners for the 2014 licensing year (July 1, 2014- June 30, 2015). The award program recognizes the special effort of high and moderate complexity restaurants that serve food to the public.
Of the 91 establishment’s eligible for the awards, four were chosen for this year’s awards. These establishments should be congratulated for their efforts:
2014 Winners
•Silver Birch Supper Club, Tomahawk, Initiative Award- Exceptional attention to food safety and food handling, no violations and effort to exceed minimum requirements.
•Tomahawk Lodge Bar and Grill, Tomahawk, Special Recognition Award- Excellent food handling practices and no violations.
•Tomahawk DQ Grill & Chill, Tomahawk, Initiative Award- Extra attention to food safety, no violations, and knowledgeable staff in food safety standards.
•Hugo’s Pizza, Merrill, Special Recognition- Effort to exceed requirements, attentive to food safety and no violations.
Other establishments meeting special criteria and therefore should be recognized for their special efforts include: Merrill Dairy Queen, Harrison Oasis, Merrill Pizza Hut, Chips Drive In, The Happy Snapper, Checkered Churn, Hardess of Merrill, Subway of Merrill, Shorthorn Bar & Grill, The Silverado, Ann’s Catering, Rodeo Saloon & Grill, Subway II Of Merrill, Bottoms Up Bar & Grill, Edgewater Country Club, Victory Lane, Besse’s on Clear Lake, and Somo Beach Resort.
Special Recognition Award Criteria:
1. Establishment must have received a routine inspection during the calendar year.
2. No substantiated complaints.
3. No unaddressed incidents of any risk type. (CDC Risk Factors or Good Manufacturing Practices).
4. No re-inspections were necessary.
5. Demonstrated initiative in exceeding minimal code requirements.
6. Confirmation of eligibility by the Lincoln County Health Department.
Initiative Award Criteria:
1. Establishment must have received a routine inspection during the calendar year.
2. No substantiated complaints.
3. No critical violations observed during the inspection.
4. No greater than two good manufacturing practices (non-critical) violations during the inspection.
5. No re-inspections were necessary.
6. Demonstrated initiative in exceeding minimal code requirements.
