The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Merrill was held Saturday from 3-11 p.m. at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Merrill. Fourteen teams of walkers registered to walk the track at the fairgrounds to raise funds to fight cancer. Food stands will be open during the event selling food and refreshments as Relay fundraisers. A big part of the Relay for Life is celebrating cancer survivors and honoring those who have lost their battle to the disease. Cancer survivor Bill Burgener of Merrill, an 11-year cancer survivor, is this year’s Merrill Relay Hero of Hope. Luminaria and solar lights were also sold to honor loved ones who have fought cancer.
