Tomahawk Police Chief Al Elvins has announced that on Friday, July 31, his department executed a search warrant at a residence in the city of Tomahawk regarding an alleged report of sexual assault of a child.
As a result of this investigation, 52-year-old Steven E. Bailey was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. He is charged with two felony counts of second degree sexual assault of a child and one felony count of second degree sexual assault of a child with organ injury.
According to a release from Tomahawk police, the victim was a 15 year old babysitter in the Bailey home.
Chief Elvins stated that the investigation is continuing and anyone with any information is requested to contact the Tomahawk Police Department at 715-453-2121 ext. #1.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Aug. 11.
